quince with a terra cotta bowl

It's always a bit hard for me to cook and eat quince. Not because there aren't tempting options (oh, there are tempting options!), but because they look and smell so magnificent just sitting in a bowl on the table - I can't bring myself to do anything that would mean not having them around anymore. But after going to a cheese tasting at the appropriately-named Quince on Saturday (presented by Madame Fromage and Marisa from Food in Jars), I just might be tempted to take a knife to that fuzzy, yellow-green fruit sooner than usual. Because we had this rosy quince jelly - spicy and fragrant and absolutely lovely paired with Idiazabal, one of my favorite Basque sheep's milk cheeses. And it was amazing.

I love this! The red bowl looks wonderful with the green fruit.

I don't think I've ever seen a quince. I've seen ornamental quince in bloom, but that's it. Your description of the cheese and quince sounds yummy!

Love your color palette in this. I also like your subject! I've never painted or eaten quince, but now I would definitely like to try - both!
